Emmerdale viewers were delighted on Friday night when David Metcalfe and Victoria Sugden returned to the village.
The loved-up couple abruptly left the Dales late last year, and it was later reported that actors Matthew Wolfenden and Isabel Hodgins were caught up in a race row.
The pair were reportedly involved in an incident on the set of the show, where it was claimed there was a conversation between the onscreen couple and another actress, who said her accent was mimicked.
Matthew, 41, and Isabel, 28, were away from the set since September - but were back filming earlier this month.
Their brief disappearance from the programme saw the pair head away for a few weeks after Meena tried to murder Victoria.
At the beginning of Friday night's episode, David gave son Jacob a fright when he surprised him in the shop.
"What the hell are you doing? Why didn't you say you were coming back!" Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) shouted at him.
"Sorry we've been away so long, thought Theo's ear infection was never gonna clear up," David told him as Victoria emerged on the shop floor too.
He went on to say that the police had called him about Meena and were keen to question him about her.
Later on in the episode, Victoria asked him how it had gone, to which David replied: ""Hard to say really. I told them what I could. They seem to think she's probably abroad.
"I dunno what I think about that, glad she's gone, worried she'll come back or worse."
"Worse?" Victoria asked, as David continued: "You know, she could be anywhere, charming her way into some bloke's life."
Viewers were delighted to see the couple back and took to Twitter to comment.
One person posted: "So glad that David and Victoria are back # Emmerdale."
Another said: "Buzzing David and victorias back! #emmerdale #wildfridaynight."
"David & Victoria are back where they belong #emmerdale," a third viewer tweeted.
