Emmerdale’s Daisy Campbell 'shocked' as police stop her during her birthday night out

Emmerdale star Daisy Campbell was left stunned as two police officers stopped her in her tracks while she was out partying for her 19th birthday.

The Amelia Spencer actress was reportedly “shocked” when officers from West Yorkshire Police approached her in Pontefract town centre.

However, the ITV actress wasn’t in trouble, it just turned out that the police officers were “fanboys” and wanted a photo with the soap star.

“After initially appearing shocked that the police wanted to speak with her, she soon relaxed when they told her why,” said a police spokesperson.

Officers posed for snaps with the telly actress, later posting them on their official Facebook page.

Their post read: “When two of our officers, who just so happen to both be big fans of Emmerdale saw Amelia Spencer from the soap it was only natural for them to become 'fanboys' and ask for a photo with her.”

The bobbies, named as Morgan and Riley, were all smiles as the birthday girl agreed to take the snaps with the adoring officers.

Taking to the comment section, Daisy’s mum Alison praised the force for sharing the image with a positive message attached.

Alison replied to one fan’s comment who asked if Daisy managed to make it home with her shoes.

One fan, who reportedly spotted the star on the night out, replied: “She was stood in the KFC queue at 1.30am behind me, she deffo had her shoes on.”

The force used the post to highlight some important messages from Daisy’s Emmerdale storyline and the star’s support behind the ‘Britain Get Talking’ campaign.

Daisy who has played Amelia in the Yorkshire based soap for the past 11 years has recently spoken out saying: “Almost half of all young people in the UK struggle with anxiety.

“So, whether you’re a teen or an adult, let’s all take a moment to reach out to each other, just to say – we’re here.”

The police spokesperson responded: “We on the Pontefract & Knottingley Neighbourhood Policing Team feel that this is a great way of raising awareness on this subject.

“We would like to show our support to the campaign and the extremely talented young actress, who we wish every success to in the future.”

Their post added: “Daisy has been at the centre of various storylines recently including a body image story and most recently a shock pregnancy.

“In which she and her co-star Liam Fox, who plays her on screen father Dan Spencer actually pitched the idea to the producers themselves.

“The heart-breaking storyline discovers that 15-year-old Amelia is pregnant and faces the difficult decision of whether or not to have an abortion.”

Their Facebook post has since gained attention from locals, with more than 700 likes and dozens of comments and shares.

One fan said: “Aww bless her can’t beat a night out in Ponte Carlo, so pleased she felt relaxed with the officers.”

Another added: “It's nice to see stuff like this support and awareness for a lot of things people have and are going through in real life.

“Maybe it will open people's eyes to the real pain behind some of the huge decisions some women and even young girls have to make, one of the hardest things to go through.

“Some people are so close minded and jealous to see or understand the meaning behind the story, such a beautiful girl.”
