Emmerdale's Claire King opens up on Kim's 'trauma' as Jamie Tate returns

Emmerdale star Claire King has opened up on her character, Kim Tate's, upcoming trauma as she discovers her son, Jamie Tate, is actually alive when his true fate is revealed.

Emmerdale residents think Jamie is dead after he crashed his car into a lake during dramatic scenes, however, he is still very much alive and about to give his mum, Kim, the shock of her life.

Last year Kim’s word was turned upside down when Jamie crashed his car into a lake during a dramatic scene. He was distracted by an incoming call from Gabby Thomas - the mother of his unborn child - and drove onto the other side of the road, swerving to avoid hitting Chas' car as his car plunged into a lake.

His car was pulled out of the lake a few days later by a search and rescue team, but his body was never recovered. Jamie was then presumed dead when they couldn’t find him but he had faked his death in an attempt to prove himself a worthy Tate.

However, we all know he is alive and well and from what show bosses have teased it might not be long until everyone including his mother Kim discover his secret - he’s still living.

Kim is completely unaware of the fact he is alive and once she finds out how much he has 'betrayed' her she is most likely going to be unhappy as show bosses teased "huge fireworks" if she ever finds out.

Secrets never stay hidden for long in Emmerdale and show bosses Jane Hudson and Laura Shaw recently teased to The Mirror and other press: "Up at Home Farm we know that Jamie Tate is actually still alive so obviously that info is still to come out – and what will Kim do once she knows?

"We know what a tough cookie Kim is but we also know that Jamie is her Achilles heel so we can expect huge fireworks if she ever finds out how much he has betrayed her."

Village mainstay, Kim Tate, is left in turmoil by this news, actor Claire King explains: ‘"he’s got to go through the whole trauma again", as she describes how Kim becomes overwhelmed with emotion.

She continues: "We’re having a little celebration for Millie (Willow Bell) coming home and they decide to go to the Hide and get pizza and things and I say I’ll follow them on. As soon as they’re out of the door this whole emotive anger comes out, furious at Jamie and the frustrations of whether he was alive or dead.

"‘Now she knows he’s alive and he’s really hoodwinked her and she feels he must hate her more than anything in the whole wide world. That hatred has been proven now. Out of frustration, and she’s had a couple of brandies, she goes over to the mantlepiece and wipes his smirky, smiling photos straight off the mantlepiece and they smash on the floor and she grinds her heel in.

"‘She never wants to see his face in the house. All photos are removed, everything that belongs to him is burned till there’s no trace at all of him left in their lives."

But is that the last we will hear of Jamie? Bosses have not yet confirmed if actor Alexander Lincoln who plays Jamie will be making a permanent return to the soap.
