Emmerdale's Chris Bisson says goodbye after 'highs and lows' on soap

Emmerdale's Chris Bisson has said an emotional farewell after "highs and lows" of filming the long-running soap.

The Jai Sharma star took to Instagram after Friday's episode, which saw his on-screen sister Priya, played by Fiona Wade, leave the fictional Yorkshire village as she took a new job in London. Fiona, 43, announced in October that she would be leaving her role in the ITV soap after 11 years.

It comes as she plans to pursue other acting opportunities away from the fictional village.

Paying tribute to his "sister" on Instagram on Friday, Chris, 47, said: "Goodbye to the girl I call 'sis.' After 11 years, the fabulous Fiona Wade bows out of Emmerdale tonight.

"Priya Sharma has left the building. She is a fabulous actress and has been a huge part of the show and our Sharma family.

"We have been through the highs & lows but, most importantly, always had the most fun filming together. We're all sad to see her go and will miss her immensely.

"Good luck for the future. Whatever you do, you'll always be my sis".

Fiona replied: "Ahh bro I love you. Thankyou!! I couldn’t have got through without my sharma family! Thankyou for always being there and for being the best bro! What amazing memories I will have forever Xxxx"
