Emmerdale’s Samantha Giles has decided to leave Twitter after Elon Musk’s controversial new change.
The new update has affected a number of celebrities who have a Blue Tick as they risk being unable to have mobile phone authentication for security if they don’t pay and subscribe to Twitter Blue. The soap star, who is known for playing Bernice Blackstock, has shared her frustration on the new change and went straight to Twitter to announce she will now be leaving the social media app.
Announcing the news with her followers, she wrote: “Think I’ll be coming off Twitter folks- I’m not paying for blue ticks and it’s saying I have to have another authentication method like a key or something which is rubbish! You can find me on Instagram - I'm @sammeegee. I’ll be posting more on there. X”

This isn’t the first time the star has decided to leave Twitter. Last year Samantha admitted she was "astounded" by the "nasty people" on the platform and that she needed a "wee break" from her account.
Samantha penned: "Having a wee break from the vitriolic place Twitter is today! It astounds me how nasty people are. See you in a while."
Following her latest decision to leave Twitter, fuming fans went straight to the comment section to support the star. @BenthamFans Tweeted: “Followed you on instagram! That’s disgusting. Why should you have to pay for another blue tick when you already got one trying to get money out of people some way.”

@ScottWLFord said: “No one I know uses Twitter anyways, most of them on Facebook & instagram. Probably done the right thing.”
While @Tinksybellalee commented: “I’ll follow you on Instagram. I find Twitter is just for celebrities. You are one of the few celebrities who bother to like and respond to us simple folk.”
