Actress Natalie J Robb has become a firm favourite amongst Emmerdale fans since joining the long-running ITV soap back in 2009.

Natalie's on-screen character, Moira Dingle has found herself at the centre of some of the soap's biggest storylines over the past decade, from her relationship with Cain Dingle to John's tragic death.

Robb's character and her family were created and introduced as part of an overhaul of the show by the series producer Gavin Blyth.

The Barton family took over the running of Butler's Farm and they were described as being "sexy, modern and contemporary".

Moira is portrayed as being strong, feisty, vivacious and independent, she is a typical farmer's wife and very protective of her family, who she always puts first.

Her characteristics have won the heart of the nation and she has since become a firm favourite amongst fans.

Robb said being part of a modern-day farming family is what drew her to the role of Moira.

Her early storylines often revolved around her marriage and her three children.

The actress was nominated for "Best Newcomer" at the 2010 Inside Soap Awards. The following year, Robb was shortlisted for "Best Serial Drama Performance" at the 16th National Television Awards.
