Emmerdale Marlon's hospital visit leaves fans frustrated

Fans of Emmerdale all asked the same thing as Marlon Dingle became seriously ill again on tonight's episode.

Marlon, played by the brilliant Mark Charnock, had been recovering since suffering a stroke. Recently, he had been allowed home from hospital as he relied on his friends and family to help care for him.

Still being unable to communicate, walk or eat without assistance, Marlon had been finding it difficult to settle back in to home life. But things turned from bad to worse on tonight's show as Marlon developed a nasty cough and had gone off his food.

Rhona had finally returned to work, although she was feeling weary about leaving Marlon. Bear decided to take Marlon on a visit to the allotment, hoping to cheer him up with a change of scenery. But once there Marlon’s coughing worsened causing Dr Liam to suggest he drive him to hospital as quickly as possible.

Fans on Twitter were all confused and asked the same question, as it appeared that a severely ill Marlon had been sent home from hospital without a care team. Diana said: "Wondering why #Marlon doesn’t seem to have a care package or DNs visiting? is his intermittent cough something else serious? #Stroke #covid #skinintegrity #SocialCare #NursingCare #Emmerdale."

Michelle said: "No one from the care team coming to check on Marlon? #Emmerdale." Meanwhile, Pauline said: "Where is Marlon's Care team? #Emmerdale."

Rhona thought that Marlon may have suffered another stroke, and was later relieved to find out that isn't what had happened. However, Dr Liam explained that he had had some tests and the medical team found that Marlon was suffering from aspiration pneumonia. Rhona was heartbroken to see her partner needing help to breathe but still tried her best to reassure him that everything would be ok.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
