Emmerdale killer Meena's 'final act' sparks trial chaos - and Leyla's 'hiding something'

Emmerdale’s Meena Jutla is set to trigger trial chaos on the ITV soap next week as she finally has her day in court after a rampant killing spree.

Meena (Paige Sandhu) takes to the theatre stage next week on the soap and basks in the spotlight, as she stands trial soon for her huge list of crimes, including the murders of Leanna Cavanagh, Ben Tucker and Andrea Tate.

Meena holds nothing back next week as she turns on Liam (Jonny McPherson), leaving him shocked when her team tells the jury that they were having an affair.

Fighting back the tears as he begins his testimony and talks about his daughter, the jury are sympathetic towards Liam, but everything changes when the defence accuse him of having an affair with Meena - provoking an outraged Liam to lash out at her.

This Morning ’s soap expert Sharon Marshall appeared on Tuesday’s programme alongside Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond to chat over the upcoming drama in soapland next week.

As the conversation turned to Emmerdale ’s famed killer Meena, Sharon said: “She’s back. She’s going to lie, she’s going to stand there looking like butter wouldn’t melt and claim she had an affair with Liam. He’s so enraged he flips out - is that going to lose him the jury?”

She then teased: “It’s going to be good. One last final act. It’s just been a warm-up so far.”

Sharon added: “Keep an eye on Leyla, by the way, she’s hiding something, is something coming up there.”

As Meena's trial draws to a close, there's one noticeable absence from proceedings as the residents await a verdict: Leyla Cavanagh.

Leyla's disappearing act stands out to her peers, given that she's been there for her husband Liam every step of the way while he fights for justice for daughter Leanna.

Leyla was also seriously injured after being shot by Meena and has previously been very vocal about wanting the murderer to face up to her crimes.

So where is she at this most crucial time? Later, Wendy quizzes Leyla over her whereabouts the day before. What secret is she hiding?

The trial is set to culminate in Meena herself taking the stand, delivering the performance of her life as she looks to win the jury over with her outrageous version of events, portraying herself as the victim.

With tensions running high in the public gallery, everyone waits in an agony of suspense to find out the verdict – but will justice finally be done?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
