Emmerdale fans have predicted that a major twist could be coming in the relationship between Marcus Dean and Ethan Anderson after the budding couple hit the rocks in the latest episode.
Marcus and Ethan’s relationship has gone from strength to strength of late as - away from the ordeal with Rhona (Zoe Henry) - his arrival to the village has been a positive one.
Marcus has made friends with a handful of residents and helped out with electrical problems in the café.
His romance with Marcus and Ethan continued to flame on Thursday evening, as Ethan moved into Tall Trees.
Ethan heard good news about his job future and the pair toasted to a successful day, but were then left frustrated when Ethan was urgently called into work.
As the pair disagreed over how quickly their relationship was moving, many fans took to Twitter to discuss the “bad vibe” from Marcus, with many suspecting he could have a sinister plot up his sleeve.
One wrote: “Starting to think that the real Marcus is about to start showing his true colours getting a bad vibe!!”
Another eagle-eyed fan wrote: “I can't put my finger on it but there's something about Marcus I just really don't like and don't trust!”
Another tweeted: “Can we fast forward months ahead where Marcus turns out to be dodgy as hell, because I can't take more boredom with Ethan/Marcus scenes.”
A fellow fan posted: “So what’s the deal with Marcus? Is he playing Ethan along? I’ve never seen someone so unenthusiastic.”
But Ethan was pulled away from Marcus during the episode, as he was called to the police station for work.
He then found himself in a moral quandary when he defended the racist who attacked Billy Fletcher on Emmerdale.
At the police station he met Jordan, who was arrested on suspicion of assault - and who many fans took to Twitter to say they recognised from another hit show.
Determined to make a good impression, Ethan took on the case - but was left startled when he recognised the victim on the CCTV image as Billy.
Meanwhile, Billy was in hospital after sustaining horrendous injuries from the attack, telling Dawn in heartbreaking scenes that it was racially motivated.
Back at the police station, Ethan said that although he knows Billy, there is no conflict of interest but suggested to Jordan that he might prefer to seek alternative representation.
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays
