Emmerdale fans spot problem with Ethan Anderson's defence of Billy's racist attacker

Emmerdale viewers spotted a problem as Ethan Anderson continued to represent Billy Fletcher's racist attacker.

Friday's edition of the long-running soap continued to explore the fallout as Billy was admitted to hospital after he was assaulted in last night's show. The police arrested Jordan Greenlow for the crime and charged the character for the racially aggravated assault.

Defence lawyer Ethan Anderson has been called upon to represent the attacker. However, the lawyer was conflicted over whether he should defend Jordan since he knows the victim.

Harriett Finch tried to convince Ethan to step aside, but he put his career ambitions over his loyalty to Billy in the latest show. Billy discovered Ethan was defending his attacker when Dawn Taylor asked the lawyer for some legal advice.

The character, played by Jay Kontzle, was outraged to find out Ethan was representing Jordan and subjected the lawyer to a verbal tirade. However, Ethan refused to interact with Billy as he maintained it would be a "conflict of interest".

However, viewers following the show on Twitter took to the social media platform to point out that it is a "conflict of interest" that Ethan knows Billy.

Estella said: "Surely if Ethan knows the victim that’s a conflict of interest?"

Lauren added: "Surely Ethan can’t represent the dude because he knows the victim anyway?"

Jamie tweeted: "But you know the victim, Ethan. It's a legitimate excuse to drop out of the case"

Ness posted : "But isn't knowing the victim a conflict of interest Ethan"

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
