Emmerdale fans spot police blunder as Meena is finally sentenced for crimes

Emmerdale viewers have spotted a huge police error as evil Meena Jutla was finally sentenced for her crimes.

The ITV soap villain - played by Paige Sandhu - exited the soap in dramatic final scenes on Monday evening, where she was sentenced to a whopping 75 years for the three murders and all the other crimes she had committed.

In terrifying scenes last week, as Meena was found guilty of her crimes, she took the whole court - and her sister Manpreet Sharma - hostage, brandishing a weapon at them as they were all forced to play along with her 'game'.

Whilst she didn't end up being able to escape - as prison guard Ian didn't keep to his word of opening the doors - Meena suffered a worse fate as she appeared in court to hear her sentencing as she found out exactly what her crimes had cost her.

However, fans tuning into last night's episode were left puzzled by the police's seemingly obvious blunder, after the terrifying events the court faced a few days previous at the hands of Meena.

"Nah as if they would let Meena stand there in court with one guard and without handcuffs after holding everyone hostage two days ago??? #Emmerdale," one frustrated fan wrote as they watched the star's final scenes.

A second added: "So, just days after being found guilty of multiple murders, holding a court hostage & attacking with a weapon requiring armed response, #Meena's in the dock with just one guard (again) and not even handcuffed? Bizarre... #Emmerdale."

"One prison guard and not handcuffed #Emmerdale," a third shared, confused by the scenes playing out on the ITV soap.

Emmerdale bosses have defended Meena's exit plot, insisting she has faced a worst fate in prison rather than ending up dead.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, soap boss Kate Brooks shared: "I really do hope people like it, I really hope so, we could have killed Meena off but I like how we punish her and how weak she leaves the show.

"It's very fitting to her character, we take away the one thing Meena craves in the whole world, which is attention and notoriety, so once that is removed from Meena, I don’t know what she has got left."

She added: "She very quickly realises that this is the worst fate imaginable, it’s worse than death or anything else."

*Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
