Emmerdale viewers were quick to spot a major blunder as Mary opened up about her sexuality after Rhona outed her, which left them fuming.
Last night Mary bravely spoke out and revealed to her daughter Rhona that she was lesbian following the death of her secret flame Louise.
But Mary didn’t get the reaction she was looking for as Rhona claimed that her "life had been a lie." During tonight's episode of the ITV hit soap fans were furious as Rhona decided to out Mary about her sexuality without her permission.

Tension was high as the pair were with Bear and Marlon and in an attempt to break the ice Bear offered everyone a iced bun.
Despite the distracted with the box of baked goods, furious Rhona decided to tell everyone that Mary is a gay woman.
Rhona later apologised for her behaviour and explained to Mary that she was just confused over what was real in her life and what wasn’t.
Mary then said that she never came out sooner because it used to be illegal - but furious viewers pointed out an error and slammed Rhona for exposing her mum's sexuality.
It was never illegal for women to be gay, the law against it only applied to men, they said, and told off the writers for getting this factually incorrect in such an important storyline.
@hilarymillingt Tweeted: “It was never illegal for women to be lesbian, the law only applied to men, #emmerdale.” @JobBlogs1 commented: “#Emmerdale get your facts right no illegal lesbianism ever.” @DoctorKiln said: “Actually #emmerdale lesbianism was never illegal for women... it was only us men it was illegal for.”
@JayEmKay wrote: “Lesbianism has never been illegal - however being a male gay sadly was #emmerdale.” @cross_flag commented: “Female homosexuality has never been illegal. Come on, #Emmerdale, get these things right.”
@mishybabez_ fumed: “Rhona shouldn't have outed her own mum like that! It was Mary's choice to come out to her friends not Rhonas #Emmerdale.”
@azz_sparks said: “No Rhona, it’s not your place to announce someone’s gay. Whether it’s your mum or not! #emmerdale.” While @devereaux_pam added: “Rhona has no respect for her mum having the courage to come out #Emmerdale.”
