Emmerdale fans have suggested Paddy Kirk may not learn of his wife Chas Dingle’s affair with Al Chapman until Christmas after explosive scenes on Tuesday.
It was an emotional day in the village as Liv’s ashes were scattered while Al’s funeral was held, leaving Chas (Lucy Pargeter) unable to attend the church service.
The day proved too much for Chas, as she burst into tears as Vinny scattered his wife’s ashes and fled the scene, leaving husband Paddy even more concerned.
The episode ended in a dramatic scene between the married couple, as an inconsolable Chas lashed out at Paddy for trying to comfort her.
In the emotional moment she shoved him away and yelled at him asking why he had never left her.
A confused and frightened look came across Paddy’s face as Chas left the room in a stream of tears – leaving fans wondering whether he might have twigged on to the situation.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Well if I was Paddy I’d think I’d be wondering if she's hiding something when Chas has just pushed him and said why didn’t he leave her ffs.”
A second echoed: “Paddy do us all a favour and use your brain and work it out!! Preferably before Christmas!!” as a third chimed: “Work it out Paddy, preferably before Christmas before we all die from boredom!”
Emmerdale fans think the drama could reach a crescendo at Christmas, particularly after Emmerdale bosses teased the possibility following Monday's instalment of the soap.
The episode saw Chas receive her mother Faith Dingle's ( Sally Dexter ) ashes, which she wants to be launched into the sky as a firework.
Chas said her mother's ashes would be part of a touching firework display on Christmas Day.
Emmerdale bosses then posted picture of Faith's urn and captioned it: "All ready to be lit up on Christmas Day. Make sure you're watching!"
Emmerdale fans were left speculating Faith's storyline might not be the only one involving fireworks.
One wrote: “Christmas Day. Fireworks literally in the pub. Does Paddy serve divorce papers?”
A second added: “I'm getting ready for fireworks when Moira and Kerry find out the real truth about Al and Chas.”
“Chas' affair [gets] outed on Christmas Day when cracker Faith to be fired,” a third wrote.
Another wrote: “They're gonna drag out Paddy finding out about Chas until Christmas Day, aren't they?”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
