Emmerdale fans rumble Al's real killer as Cain Dingle 'set to leave ITV soap'

Emmerdale killed off their fourth character, Al, in just three weeks and eagle-eyed viewers have discovered that his death may not be as it seems.

During the brutal episode which aired on Tuesday, Al Champman was gunned down by the notorious Cain Dingle, with Micheal Wildman leaving the programme after three years.

Al and Cain's rift came to a shock ending during a showdown in the barn after Al's affair with Cain's sister, Chas Dingle

As fans tuned into Monday's episode, they were left on the edge of their seats after Cain and Al appeared to get into a fight before they struggled over the shotgun.

However, a shot was later heard with some viewers concerned as to who had died, but it came out during Tuesday's episode that it was Al, as his lifeless body was surrounded by blood.

But some fans believe that Cain wasn't the shooter after all as they took to social media to share their thoughts.

One fan said: "I reckon it "was Aaron, that shot Al? #Emmerdale"

Before a second echoed: "#emmerdale Thing is, who shot whom? Has Aaron shot AL? Has Moira shot AL? Has Chas shot AL?"

Fans are not convinced that Cain was behind the shooting (ITV)

"#Emmerdale Chas deffo already knows. She was there. She pulled that trigger! There’s no way it was Cain… but he’ll cover for his sister" wrote a third.

While a fourth commented: "No Cain did not do it I reckon someone else Cain is not a killer #Emmerdale."

Meanwhile, some viewers believe that the shooting could spark Cain's exit from the soap, having appeared in Emmerdale since 2000.

After the gun blast, Al's partner, Kerry ran in to find him on the floor as Cain quickly made an exit from the bloody scene.

Before he ran, he told her: "It's not what it looks like," as Kerry screamed at daughter Chloe Harris to call the police and an ambulance.

Kerry wasted no time in telling officers what she saw, saying Cain "would pay" as she grieved for her tragic fiancé.

Cain, meanwhile, raced home and said his goodbyes to his wife Moira and his young kids, before armed police descended on the house.

Meanwhile, some fans believe Cain Dingle may be leaving the soap (ITV)

As Cain asked Kyle to step up as "the eldest" and told Moira to keep the kids inside, he stepped outside with his hands up and was led away by officers.

One fan said: "Cain is going to run away to France and meet up with Andy, Adam and any other person who has fled there #Emmerdale."

"Is Cain going out of Emmerdale as well?? #Emmerdale," tweeted a second.

Before a third added: "If Cain is leaving I’m actually done watching. I can't lose Cain and Aaron in the same week #Emmerdale."

Actor Jeff Hordley who plays Cain recently spoke about his fears that he may be axed from the soap one day.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV and ITV Hub, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
