Emmerdale fans were left puzzled by Dawn Taylor's blunder - as she betrayed Alex in a huge twist.
Dawn was given an ultimatum by her ex Alex after she wanted her new husband Billy Fletcher to adopt her and Alex's son Lucas. He told her she needed to sell his drugs and raise some cash for him, before he would agree to letting Billy take on Lucas as his own.
However, she secretly recorded Alex's plan to get her to sell the drugs and in a huge twist, she had him arrested - but not before she worried Billy and her dad Will Taylor by being arrested herself.
They quickly rushed to the police station, worried about what had happened to Dawn - but she was released.
"Look, I just couldn't tell you at the time. That I recorded him, the whole thing. It obviously wasn't a coincidence that the police turned up and arrested him. Look, Alex gave me the chance to make a call and I made it," she said as she approached Billy and Will.
As Harriet said she was just glad she was able to help, Dawn admitted the decision was tough.
"I had a decision to make. Either I did what Alex said, and give you the chance for adoption, or I do the right thing and send him to prison," she said, "It really wasn't [an easy decision]. But as soon as I knew that he was back in that world, I knew he couldn't be in ours. Billy, I am sorry, I know that this messes up the adoption."
Fans tuning into the soap were impressed with Dawn's clever twist - but pointed out a huge error she had made earlier in the episode.
"So Dawn didn’t think to ask Alex how much he actually owed?! Christ!" one wrote.
A second added: "What are the scriptwriters on #emmerdale thinking? Dawn would have asked how much money was owing, not just guess? The characters on #emmerdale are being portrayed as stupid."
"Did she even say how much he wanted?!? #Emmerdale Kim got cash for days," a third wrote online.
A fourth penned: "Would it not be better asking how much he actually owes lol."
