Emmerdale fans have 'worked out' Meena Jutla's fate - after Dr Liam Cavanagh was dealt some devastating news.
The ITV soap aired the start of the evil serial killer's trial tonight, as Dr Liam (Jonny McPherson) took to the stand for the opening day of Meena's (Paige Sandhu) trial and gave his evidence.
Dr Liam was the first to take to the stand, where he recounted what happened when he found Dr Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) in the disused barn. He told the jury how Meena had planned to kill them, and how he had given chase, but she had managed to get away from his clutches.
He explained in a heartbreaking monologue how his daughter Leanna's death had affected him, as the prosecutor calmly asked him to explain what happened when he found Meena on the same bridge.
Dr Liam recalled how he had been goaded by the serial killer, who blamed Leanna for her own death, before the defence then stepped in to counter his claims and build a case for Meena.
It was then that the defence barrister dealt Liam some devastating news, and accused him of having an affair with Meena. Emmerdale fans will recall that Meena lied about the 'affair', and that Liam was too drunk to remember what really happened.
Following the tough questioning, Liam started to lose his temper as he directly appealed to Meena to tell the truth about the three murders for which she is on trial for. She refused and said she felt intimidated as Liam continued to shout. The judge, seemingly frustrated, was then forced to adjourn the trial until the following day, leaving a desperate Liam devastated.
Fans tuning in to the ITV soap are now convinced that Meena will walk free from court in the coming days.
"Meena's getting away with it. Calling it now. #Meenadale #Emmerdale," one wrote.
