Emmerdale fans were left in pieces on Thursday evening as Marlon Dingle and Rhona Goskirk wed in front of their fellow villagers on the ITV soap.
The build up to the big day had been touch and go after Marlon (Mark Charnock) suffered a slight health setback during his stag do the night before, as he continues his recovery from his stroke.
Best pal Paddy ( Dominic Brunt ) rushed to the hospital alongside him and then fought to get his blood pressure under control so he could be discharged on the wedding day.
However, as the wedding hour arrived and Marlon was still yet to be seen, Rhona began to twig that something was afoot and asked questions in the chapel.
But just at the last moment, Marlon burst into the chapel in a wheelchair with Paddy and proceeding to walk down the aisle to his soon-to-be-wife as his friends and family cheered him on in slow motion scenes.
The moving moment left soap fans reaching for the tissues, as Marlon finally reached Rhona and asked her to marry him.
The pair then exchanged vows and headed to the Woolpack for a proper Dingle party - complete with a shock punch up between Jai and Kit over the unfolding love triangle involving Laurel.
Yet even through the drama, soap fans were unable to keep the tears from falling and took to Twitter to praise the emotional scenes.
One wrote: “Yes Marlon!!!! You did it oh I am crying like I’ve been cutting onions for a week,” as a second echoed: “I’m not crying, it’s erm…that damn hay fever again!”
Another posted: “Best wedding present Rhona could ever ask for...watching Marlon walk down the aisle.”
Another added: “Please tell me I’m not the only one with tears when marlon started waking down to Rhona?!”
“When did I become that person that gets emotional at soaps. I’m not crying, you are,” one fan joked.
Another soap watched tweeted: “Knew I'd get emotional if marlon managed to walk like that! It was absolutely amazing to watch, Mark charnock has portrayed the stroke storyline with perfection and a rare happy ending on the cards here well done.”
One concluded: “HELL YEAAAA Marlon mate,” as another wrote: “Go on Marlon what an inspiration.”
