A number of Emmerdale fans have been sharing their hopes that upcoming storm scenes will see the return of evil nurse Meena Jutla. It comes as the soap celebrates its 50th anniversary this month and many characters have already been left in danger or injured after a big storm has been causing chaos in the village.
On Sunday ITV's long-running drama celebrated its official birthday with an hour-long episode which saw the start of the horrendous storm. Both Kim Tate and Harriet Finch found themselves caught up in the bad weather during a search for pregnant teenager Amelia Spencer.
During Monday's episode it was confirmed Harriet had died following a quad bike explosion and the drama continued when Nate Robinson and Sam Dingle were seen running for their lives after cows on the farm decide to stampede and Sam ended up impaled on a tractor. As the drama continues to unfold, some viewers have taken to social media questioning whether serial killer and former nurse Meena Jutla, played by Paige Sandhu, would be making an appearance during the dramatic 50th anniversary scenes, OK! reports.
Meena's storyline concluded in April as she was finally sentenced to a minimum of 75 years in prison after a showdown with her sister Manpreet and an attempt to escape the prison. But this hasn't stopped fans speculating a comeback, with some viewers saying Meena could escape prison during the bad weather and return to the village in a shock twist.
Taking to Twitter, Joe wrote: "Ok where is Meena? I expect to see the cows push down her prison cell walls next week and to see her return for one last hurrah spree of murder #Emmerdale." Alban tweeted: "Anyone checked who is driving the minibus?... #Emmerdale #Emmerdale50 Where is Meena?".
"If Meena doesn’t make a miraculous come back, this show has lost an icon #Emmerdale50 #Emmerdale." Nikki-Louise said. Amelia wrote: "Emmerdale you know we all want it, bring Meena back!! Even if it’s just seeing her in prison or someone visits her we will be happy!! #emmerdale @emmerdale."
At the 2022 British Soap Awards in June, Paige, who won Best Leading Performer, spoke to OK! about whether or not Meena could make a return: "Never say never! You know what, never say never, anything goes in Emmerdale, especially for the 50th.
"It's going to be the biggest and best year yet. In the past, historically, Emmerdale has broken other prisoners out of jail so it could happen... but we'll see."
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV and ITV Hub from 7.30pm with an hour-long episode on Thursday nights. You can catch up on the soap's 50th anniversary storm episodes on the ITV Hub.
