Emmerdale fans go wild as they recognise Mary Goskirk’s 'famous' date - here's where you've seen her before

Emmerdale's Mary Goskirk was seen going on a date with a new love interest, Faye, during last night's trip to the Dales and fans are convinced they have seen her somewhere before.

After a disastrous first date with cycling fan Joy followed by being ghosted by another potential partner, Mary was hoping it was third time lucky for her online dating endeavours. Thursday night's episode saw actress Jane Gurnett make a guest appearance as Mary's date and while Mary was focused on trying to wow her date, viewers at home where distracted by where they had seen Faye before.

Taking to a Facebook fan group 'Emmerdale Gossip and Spoilers' many fans tried to guess where they recognised the actress from. One frustrated fan posted: "Omg who is Marys new friend, recognise her face but can't remember where from?"

It wasn't long before the comments section was full of viewers trying to work out where they knew newcomer Faye from. Another Emmerdale fan replied: "She’s been in loads of things…Casualty, Frost, Dangerfield, Doctors, just to name a few."

A third added: "Also been in The Royal, Dalziel and Pascoe, Shakespeare and Hathaway. Her name is Jane Gurnett" while a fourth penned: "She's a cracking actress! Good move Emmerdale!!" So who exactly is the actress who plays Faye?

Mary’s date Faye is played by actress Jane Gurnett. The star has been on our screens since the eighties and has had many roles in well known TV shows. She is probably best recognised for her role as Rachel Longworth in Casualty, Rachel was a nurse who worked in the ED at the hospital. Jane portayed Rachel for two years between 1994 until 1996.

The actress has also appeared in Dangerfield, Crossroads, Birds of a Feather, The Royal, Peak Practice and A Touch of Frost. Most recently she played Verity Foster in Doctors and last year she starred in crime drama Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators.

In addition to her TV roles, she’s also had starring roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company and at the National Theatre. It’s not been revealed how long Jane will be appearing in Emmerdale, however, actress Louise Jameson who plays Mary recently teased a potential new relationship after viewers saw her have a heart to heart with Kim Tate about her love life.

In an interview with Digital Spy Louise Jameson previously said: “I strongly suspect there’s going to be a new love interest. I wondered if it could be Kim, but that might spoil the friendship, so I reckon they will bring in someone new.”
