Emmerdale fans fumed as Harriet Finch's funeral wasn't aired on the ITV soap tonight.
Harriet died in sad scenes last month, when her quad bike was flipped over during the storm. An explosion saw the end of her life as she became the first victim of the horrifying storm that spread across the Yorkshire village.
At the start of tonight's episode, PC Swirling and Harriet's friends gathered to pay tribute to the late vicar turned police officer with fans expecting to see them at the funeral. However, there was no sign of it - and it later skipped to Dawn crying on her own.
There was a wake for Harriet, with the police officer and Amelia giving speeches, but angry fans took to Twitter to vent over the lack of a funeral, after Liv and Faith's huge double funeral with the entire adult cast.
"So, we didn't even get to see Harriet's service? #Emmerdale," one frustrated fan wrote, whilst another added: "Does no one like Harriet? They did a whole episode on liv and faiths joint funeral meanwhile Harriet gets a police car and they don’t even show it."
A third shared: "Harriet deserves better than a non-funeral #Emmerdale," with a fourth penning on social media as they fumed over the lack of a scene: "We don’t get to see Harriet’s funeral? That’s c**p #Emmerdale."
"No on screen funeral for Harriet? tf, she's been in it a long time so she deserved one. No doubt Al’s will get dedicated screentime with Chas blubbing though #emmerdale," a fifth fan wrote.
A sixth added: "Sorry but Harriet didn't deserve that non show funeral, she was the villages Vicar and she got that send off?"
In contrast, Liv Dingle and Faith Dingle had a huge double funeral after Faith passed away in harrowing scenes earlier this month, when she took her own life amid her devastating cancer battle, whilst Liv was crushed by a caravan during the storm.
Producer Laura Shaw said of the scenes: "We knew when we decided to do a joint funeral for Faith and Liv that it would need to be a very special and memorable funeral for two such hugely epic and much loved characters.
"Having a scene featuring the entire adult cast was not something we had done before and given the funeral was taking place towards the end of our October 50th birthday month, it felt very right and fitting that we had the whole cast there to say goodbye."
She added: "It was no easy feat for the Emmerdale production team to organise and execute and nor was it easy to shoot as the Dingles said farewell to not one but two of their beloved family, some of the tears that fell that day were absolutely real. But behind the tears and sadness there was also a celebratory feel on set.
"A feeling of pride and honour that the October month was ending with all our villagers united on Main Street, demonstrating that love and warmth and togetherness that has kept Emmerdale on our screens for 50 years."
*Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
