Emmerdale fans emotional after show bosses give Marlon update

Emmerdale fans have shared being emotional after show bosses made a plea on social media.

A recent storyline has seen Marlon Dingle, played by Mark Charnock, recovering from a stroke. In scenes that aired in March, Marlon was hit with symptoms of a stroke as he saw his face seizing up in the mirror. He collapsed before being rushed to hospital.

After regaining consciousness, it was confirmed that Marlon had lost the use of his speech, as he was seen struggling to pronounce easy words.

Many fans of the long-running ITV soap have praised Mark for his portrayal - and for raising awareness. Now Emmerdale bosses have shared that the 53-year-old nominated for the Best Serial Drama Performance gong at this year's National Television Awards.

Posts on Emmerdale's official Twitter and Instagram accounts said: "Vote for @markcharnock at this year's NTAs. Do it now!"

Many fans quickly replied to the posts, with a number of them sharing how emotional the scenes have made them. Lesley Campbell said: "Most definitely his acting has been outstanding".

Dawn Robinson said: "Superb actor...when he walked down the aisle to marry Rhona [crying emojis] took me days to dry out", while Kellie Obermuller said: "100% deserves this. The range of emotions I’ve felt watching the different stages of Marlon's journey has been overwhelming. [From] sobbing [to] laughing until I cry. Either way there has been tears."
