Emmerdale fans were left feeling torn on Friday evening as Faith Dingle asked a very big favour of Moira Barton.
The latest instalment of the ITV soap saw Faith (Sally Dexter) float the idea of ending her own life with her daughter-in-law, but the conversation left Moira in tears.
As the pair chatted in the woods, Faith told her: "Dying is one thing, but it's another losing your mind... and then still dying.
"I just don't want to be lost in here. I don't want to be trapped in a prison of my own memories."
Moira (Natalie J. Robb) empathised with Faith but urged her to speak to her children Chas and Cain about how she's feeling as well as her palative care nurse.
"It's less a question of how I do it, and more a question of when," Faith told her bluntly.
"You say it's more a matter of when than how, so why not today or tomorrow?" Moira asked her as Faith admitted she's not ready.
"Exactly! It's always gonna feel too soon until it's too late!" Moira fired back as she mentioned speaking to Chas and Cain again.
"Until you do, this isn't real!" she added as Faith opened up about how it feels to be dying and broached the subject of Moira being present when she dies.
"When exactly are you gonna tell Cain and Chas? When it's too late for them to intervene?" Moira accused her as Faith argued: "We don't have to tell them anything!"
But Moira was having none of it and told Faith it was "all a bit much" which left her panicking.
"No, I've changed my mind! Please promise me you won't tell Cain!" she pleaded as Moira broke down.
"I'm sorry but I don't think that's a promise I can make, not this time," Moira told her through tears.
Viewers tuning in at home were left feeling divided by the highly-emotional scenes.
"Such a moving performance from Sally Dexter and Natalie J Robb tonight # emmerdale," one person said.
Another tweeted: "The scenes between Moira & Faith are so incredibly moving tonight, has to be an award winner, sad that Sally Dexter is leaving, but what a performance #Emmerdale."
But a third asked: "Why is Faith putting all of this on Moira? #Emmerdale," and another added: "Faith is putting Moira in an unfair position... #Emmerdale."
Someone else posted: "Wow Moira and Faith. Sally and Natalie are just brilliant together…they bring so much emotion to their scenes…poor Faith, but such a weight for Moira to have to bear #Emmerdale."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
