Emmerdale fans distraught as Leyla 'relapses' in heartbreaking scenes

A careless remark looks like it might be sending Emmerdale's Leyla Harding back into addiction.

Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) is just weeks out of rehab for her cocaine addiction. But a careless remark in the Woolpack from a tipsy Brenda Walker may be the final nudge back towards the white line.

Brenda asks Bernice Blackstock about whether Liam, who is divorcing Leyla, will be her boyfriend following a drunken kiss at Christmas. Leyla, however, is in earshot when well-meaning but tactless Brenda asks the clumsy question to Bernice who plays it down.

David Metcalfe tries to comfort her, but Leyla admits she was looking forward to going travelling with Liam, not David. She describes it like "trudging round like two dropouts on a gap year".

Crestfallen Leyla then lays into Liam when he pops by, which sends her upstairs to where she keeps her stash. Finding nothing more than an empty snapbag, Leyla picks up her phone and scrolls through the contacts, presumably to find her dealer.

Fans at home couldn’t hide their heartache for the struggling addict, as they took to social media to urge Leyla not to succumb to her weakness.

“Leyla, don't do it, you've come so far!” pleaded one fan on twitter. Another agreed, writing: “Layla relapsing is actually heartbreaking.”

“Actual tears! Please don’t do it Leyla!” begged another fan.

Meanwhile Kyle's mum Amy Wyatt is struggling to deal with the pressure of having a killer for a son. When Amy and Kyle go into the café, Nicola Wheeler asks after them but Amy gets upset and leaves.

"The whole world is looking at him in disgust," she says. And Arthur Thomas confesses to April that he may fancy another boy on the first day back at school.
