Emmerdale fans were left puzzling over the connection between Matty Barton and Kyle Winchester on the ITV soap after scenes on Wednesday evening.
The moment came as Matty finally learned the shocking truth about Al Chapman's death, as Mackenzie Boyd spilled the beans.
10-year-old Kyle was responsible for Al's fatal shooting in a barn on the outskirts of Emmerdale, but his father Cain Dingle has taken the blame for the crime to protect his son.
While Kyle's mother Amy Wyatt is also in on the secret, she has kept it from her boyfriend Matty, who she has not confided in.
Yet Matty has now learnt the horror truth through his own sleuthing after he paid a visit to incarcerated Cain on Wednesday.
After Amy and Moira fled from the Dales in the aftermath of Al’s death, Matty was left alone and determined to get the answers.
Matty met up with the village tough man in the visitor room and laid out his case – but Cain refused to share the truth, instead spinning a yard.
Yet Matty left not believing a word he had heard and went to see Mack to dig deeper.
He then successfully tricked him into finally sharing the truth of Al’s final moments in the barn.
Yet as he finally learned the truth, he lamented the fact he had been left out of the loop and referenced the fact that Amy is his girlfriend and Kyle is his brother – leaving Emmerdale fans scratching their heads.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “I’m a little confused. How is Kyle Mattys brother?!” as another echoed: “Wait so Kyle is Matty’s brother but he's with his mom??? Hahah weird.”
A third laughed: “Matty is Kyle's brother but Amy's boyfriend? Oh Emmerdale!”
However, another noted: “Kyle is your “step” brother/son matty not brother,” given that Matt is Moira’s son.
ITV spoilers have revealed that Amy and Moira are set to return to the Dales next week, as actress Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira, teased her character's return.
She said: “Moira gets her head around it. She does come back from Belfast, saying it was a blip and it'll be okay now. She thinks she can make it work.
“Moira doesn't really know deep down whether it's something she can do, but at this stage, she thinks she's got to give it everything because Cain is the love of her life.
“We have a scene where Moira says that she'll do everything she can to keep their family together. That's always been Moira's thing – she's fierce about her family.”
