Emmerdale fans disgusted with 'paedophile' Cain Dingle as uncomfortable old storyline airs

Emmerdale fans are disgusted with soap legend Cain Dingle and are now looking at the character in a different light.

Some Emmerdale fans might have forgotten Cain, played by Jeff Hordley, the character slept with 15-year-old Ollie Reynolds back when he was in his 20s, as part of a rather twisted plot to upset her mum Angie.

The episode, from 2001, aired again recently and it served as a rather unpleasant reminder to Emmerdale fans. Many have taken to Twitter to say how disgusted they are with Cain Dingle and that he still remains in the soap.

One person tweeted: "Watching classic @emmerdale with Ollie Reynolds and Cain. She’s 15, he's 25 and he is grooming her. He is then caught in bed with her. Maybe they could bring historical charges against him."

Another said: “Ollie Reynolds was 15 when Cain had sex with her. So yeah, he’s a paedophile.” While we saw another viewer post: “I don’t know how they get away with this. they certainly wouldn’t get away with it today.

“I’ve found it very distasteful the whole thing and how she as a mother can help him get away with it I don’t know.”

Another viewer said: "Somewhat remember this from first time round but had forgotten how completely disgusting he was. I hate the Dingles in classic Emmerdale coz I know how yet more awful they are to become, and I hate them in current Emmerdale coz of how awful they always were."
