Emmerdale fans are sure they've cracked who pushed Caleb Milligan as he was seen falling down a woodland ridge before he was left to die.
However, the long-running soap has not give anything away to confirm the identity of the mysterious assailant.
Caleb arrived in the village last December, as Cain Dingle's long-lost brother and since then, many fans have taken a dislike to the character.
During Thursday night's episode fans saw Caleb, played by Will Ash, lash out at everyone as they turned their back on him, reports Manchester Evening News.
The drama followed the revelation of his plan to bring Kim Tate in order to get his hands on Home Farm, which he believes is his birthright after discovering his father was the late Frank Tate.
Since his plan - which included convincing his son Nicky to pretend to be in love with Gabby Thomas and marry her - was exposed in scenes which Emmerdale fans dubbed 'the best ever', the Dingle and Tate families have made clear their contempt for the newcomer, as has former love interest Leyla Cavanagh.
And as they continue to make it clear they're keen for him to leave the village, other residents of the Dales were seen united against Caleb during a tense altercation in the pub when he did not hold back in taking verbal shots at all of them.
Furious with what was happening, Chas Dingle threw him out as his brother Cain was held back by his wife Moira, whose farm has been left in tatters due to Caleb's scheming.
Caleb soon walks away and finds himself in the woods, screaming into thin air as the frustrations of what's been happening became too much.
However, unknown to him, a mysterious person had followed him as he let out his anger on a woodland ridge and Caleb was blindsided when the unknown person suddenly pushed him over the edge, leaving him to die.
Viewers then saw the named suspects including Chas, Leyla, Mack, Cain and Will all back at home or going about their business as normal. But fans of the soap think that those included in the intimidating promo shot for the shock storyline is just a red herring as they claim to know the real culprit.
