Emmerdale actress Olivia Bromley will be known to most as the soap’s Dawn Taylor, but she's now made a foray into an exciting new side hustle.
When she’s not at the centre of the Dales drama, Olivia has launched an exciting music career with a five-piece band.
In a world away from the stresses of Meena Jutla’s murderous advances, Olivia fronts the London band Damsen.
They have recorded songs including Something Good and This Isn’t Love, with “hazy vocals” provided by Olivia and tracks with a downtempo rhythm and sleek guitar riffs.
Olivia has previously opened up about her musical ambitions to The Mirror and said she admired the hidden pipes of Dean Andrews, who plays her on-screen father.
She said: “I suppose we’re like the Von Trapps. He’s a fantastic singer. We have an Emmerdale band that various cast members sing in, but because of Covid we haven’t been able to do any gigs.”
Olivia has been on the ITV soap since 2018 and since then has ricocheted from one drama to the next, most recently seen at the epicentre of the Meena drama with her fiancé Billy Fletcher.
The pair had been counting down the days to their wedding day on the ITV soap after their romance blossomed in recent months.
But serial killer Meena, played by Paige Sandhu, made her dreaded return to the soap and kidnapped Dawn Taylor on her wedding day.
Ahead of the tense showdown, Olivia said she thought Dawn would be more than capable of taking Meena down.
She said: “Dawn had a previous situation with Malone where she had to get herself out of a life-threatening situation by killing him. It's haunted her in a way that she hasn't really been able to get over. Psychologically it's caused her a lot of issues afterwards.
“Would she be able to defend herself again and take it that far? However, if it was a fight between Meena and Dawn, hands down Dawn would win. She'd absolutely batter Meena.”
She said Emmerdale viewers would like to see a “fairytale ending” for Dawn and Billy after the strife of the nuptials.
She said: “There has been so much positivity about Billy and Dawn together and I think it's interesting because I feel the characters naturally mesh together quite well and they did before.
“People who want to see some happiness for the two of them and would like to see something play out. A positive story!”
