Emmerdale actor Jeff Hordley has spoken about his possible exit from the show as the soap's 50th anniversary approaches.
The 52-year-old has been playing Cain Dingle for 22 years and has been at the centre of some major storylines. At the moment, Jeff's character is trying to cope with his mother Faith's terminal breast cancer diagnosis and rebuilding their frayed relationship.
The show's actors and producers have remained fairly tight-lipped about upcoming anniversary scenes but warned fans to brace themselves for a great deal of drama, heartbreak and surprise returns. So far, it has been revealed that a deadly storm will rip through the village and familiar faces set to make brief appearances are Aaron Dingle, Diane Sugden and Tracy Metcalfe - but of course there could be more.

In typical Emmerdale fashion, no character is safe from being killed off and Jeff has shared his thoughts on being axed with the Express in a recent interview. He was joined by co-star Katherine Dow Blyton who plays police officer Harriet Finch.
When asked if she was worried about saying goodbye to colleagues who might die in the upcoming storm, Katherine replied: “Well, you never know, do you? That’s showbiz, one minute you are here and the next you are not here.
"But it’s a risk you take and it’s part of the job, isn’t it? Whatever happens, you get to be involved in some fabulous storylines so you have to seize the day."
Jeff, who is married to colleague Zoë Henry, said the Emmerdale stars only get given a year’s contract at a time, saying: "I sometimes find that hard to believe but they have got to keep the show moving and they’ve got to freshen up the show. But sometimes they do have to say goodbye to people and that is always upsetting."
He added: "But one day I am sure it will be me, it could be me this year."
It comes after Emmerdale stars Paige Sandhu, who plays Meena Jutla, and Mark Charnock were nominated for a National Television Award. The soap was also shortlisted in the Serial Drama category.
The NTAs 2022 will be held at the OVO Arena Wembley on September 15 from 8pm, with the results announced live on ITV. You can vote free on the website.
