Emmerdale and Coronation Street in huge ITV schedule shake-up as soaps switch times

Emmerdale and Coronation Street will switch times for a week in a huge schedule shake-up on ITV.

The trip to the Dales usually airs at 7.30pm each day on ITV for half an hour, with an hour long episode on a Thursday, whilst the action from the Cobbles usually airs from 8pm for an hour on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

However, for the week of the May 29th, the Britain's Got Talent live semi-finals will cause a shake-up for the soaps as the final few episodes of the talent show airs each evening ahead of the final at the weekend.

For one week only from Monday May 29th, Emmerdale will air for half an hour each day at 7pm, whilst Coronation Street will air at 7.30pm each day for half an hour before the semi-finals air live from 8pm.

EastEnders will remain unaffected by the schedule changes as it airs on the BBC at 7.30pm between Mondays and Thursdays, but it will clash with Corrie that week rather than Emmerdale as it usually does.

We are yet to know exactly what will be happening that week on the ITV soaps, but there will be two big storylines that Coronation Street will be tackling - as Daisy will face Justin in court and Gemma will finally tie the knot with her husband-to-be Chesney.

Daisy was targeted by her stalker Justin (ITV)

Actress Charlotte Jordan - who plays Daisy Ridgeley on Corrie - previously insisted her character will never be the same after Justin targeted her in a horrific acid attack, which has lead to a romance starting to blossom for Daisy and Ryan.

Charlotte said of the aftermath of the attack: "She feels totally isolated and is feeling totally helpless. It was really important to do this storyline and it is clever to do it with a character like Daisy, because she's a divisive character.

"You either love her or hate her, there's not really an in-between and all the things that make her Daisy, she's extra, she's flamboyant, she's camp, she's big, and you will see she starts to crumble. She gets smaller and smaller. I don't think she will ever be the same again."
