Emmerdale Al Chapman and Cain Dingle's shotgun showdown leaves fans confused by 'problem'

Emmerdale viewers were confused as Al Chapman and Cain Dingle engaged in a shotgun showdown.

Tonight's dramatic edition was the end of the show's 50th anniversary celebrations. The show marked the landmark event with a month of special episodes.

The drama kickstarted when show legend Faith Dingle lost her battle with cancer. This was followed by an epic storm which ripped through the village.

The month ended with a bang as Cain discovered his sister, Chas, had been having an affair with his nemesis, Al. He found Chas' secret phone and lured Al to a barn outside the village where he held him at gunpoint.

However, Cain tossed away the weapon as he preferred to have a fist fight. The episode ended on a cliffhanger as a shot was fired, but it is unknown who has taken the bullet.

Viewers following the show on Twitter were distracted during the tense climax as they wondered how Cain was able to access Chas' secret phone so easily.

Dion posted: "You would think your affair phone would have a password on it"

Another user commented: "So Cain can unlock anyone's phone?"

Emma tweeted: "Cain finds Chas’s UNLOCKED phone? I mean seriously? she wouldnt be that stupid"

Lynette added: "How is a married woman who is having an illicit affair, have an unlocked phone???"
