Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter has addressed Chas Dingle backlash as her fictional character recently became the soap's number one villain.
Viewers have watched through gritted teeth the past few month as Chas has been cheating on fan favourite Paddy with bad boy Al Chapman.
However it all came to an abrupt end as her lover got shot. It was understood that Cain was to blame as he pleaded guilty to Al’s murder and is currently facing a life sentence for the murder.

However it was revealed that Cain was innocent and it was in fact his 10-year-old son, Kyle who killed Al. No one in the village including Chas knows the truth however Chas has continued to blame Cain for her affair and lashes out at those close to her including husband Paddy.
Paddy Kirk, played by Dominic Brunt, is completely oblivious about Chas and Al's relationship and even though is it over fans are still not happy with Chas' behaviour, with many even calling for the "unbearable" character to be axed.
Actress Lucy has since spoken out about the backlash and says her character has done what she "strived" to do, which is "get you talking."
The star took to Twitter and said: "Just a little thank you from me and my @emmerdale family. Thank you watching , enjoying and being so involved and invested in the stories we tell …. And judging from many of your comments about Chas at the moment, I’d say it’s done what we strive to do, get you talking."
