It didn’t take long for Washington first-round pick Emmanuel Forbes to make an impression on Commanders coaches. Forbes intercepted a pass during the first day of rookie minicamp earlier this month, prompting one unnamed coach to say Forbes was “really f—–g good.”
Forbes was on the field with all of his new teammates beginning Tuesday as Washington opened OTAs. On Wednesday, the media was in attendance, and Forbes was again making plays.
Forbes was competing against veteran wide receiver Marcus Kemp when, according to John Keim of ESPN, he drove on the ball, using his length, and intercepted quarterback Jake Fromm.

Say what you want; Forbes is always around the football.
Washington drafted Forbes to create more turnovers. Head coach Ron Rivera and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio have each stated as much.
While some will bemoan, “Who cares if Forbes picks off a pass in OTAs?” True, but you cannot deny Forbes’ ability to seemingly always make plays. Forbes could have a successful rookie season, but he will be judged on game-changing plays as a rookie, fair or not. It’s a reputation he’s created for himself with such an outstanding collegiate career and early in his NFL career.
I would expect us to be writing about a few more Forbes’ picks over the next few months.
