The first guests have started to arrive for King Charles III’s Coronation, at Westminster Abbey.
Two thousand guests are set to gather, where the royal family, foreign dignitaries, and members of the public nominated by charities will be among those who mix.
Dame Emma Thompson led the way in a statement, red and black rose woven opera coat, designed by royal favourite designer Emilia Wickstead. The punchy look, worth £1800, featured wide cut sleeves and was worn under a simple black knee length dress as the actress waved to waiting photographers.
Also arriving early was Nick Cave, the singer, who maintained his vampy style with a three-piece black suit with peaked lapels and dark tresses slicked back. It comes after he revealed his ‘inexplicable attachment’ to the royals in his newsletter last month.
More arrivals are expected shortly, before the royal procession from Buckingham Palace begins at 10:20am.
