Emma Stone has officially moved on from the cropped lob she's worn for most of 2026. At the Telluride Film Festival on September 5, the actress stepped out with long, curly auburn waves falling to her mid-chest, an off-center part and a smooth, wave-heavy finish that appears to be her longest hair since 2021. The look is a significant jump from the bob and pixie lengths she's kept for the better part of two years, and it lands at a moment when her hair has already become its own kind of storyline.
That storyline started in 2024, when Stone secretly shaved her head to play CEO Michelle Fuller in "Bugonia," a transformation she kept private until she began appearing in public with the regrowth. She debuted the resulting pixie cut at the 2025 Golden Globes in January, a style so short her longtime colorist described it at the time as barely there. From there, Stone has spoken openly about the process of growing it back out, telling Vogue that the experience has been "unexpectedly very fun," though she noted the earliest stage, when her hair was too short to do much with, meant near-constant beanies. Once it reached pixie length, she said, the styling options opened up considerably, and Stone spent her 2026 awards season, including the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, Actor Awards and Oscars, working through a series of bob-length looks with hairstylist Mara Roszak and colorist Tracey Cunningham, including a "soft auburn" shade she debuted at the Oscars in March.

« I just said, 'I'm going to take my hair off and it's going to grow back. Isn't that so silly and fun? We can do whatever we want with our hair! It can change all the time.' She was like, 'OK,' »
