Lanthimos collaborated with Efthimis Filippou on the screenplay for 'Kinds of Kindness,' marking their fifth project together. The film, originally named 'And,' was filmed in New Orleans in late 2022. Stone and Lanthimos have a successful history of working together, with their recent project 'Poor Things' earning critical acclaim and Stone her second Oscar for best actress. The fantasy comedy 'Poor Things' has garnered over $100 million worldwide and received four Academy Awards, including for production and costume design.
Stone and Lanthimos have previously teamed up on projects like 'The Favourite' and the short film 'Bleat.' Their creative partnership has been fruitful, with Stone emphasizing Lanthimos' focus on the personal qualities of his collaborators rather than just their acting abilities. The duo is already discussing their next venture, a remake of the South Korean film 'Save the Green Planet.'
Stone's admiration for Lanthimos' approach to filmmaking is evident in her statement: 'Yorgos feels like a lot of his process of working with people or putting people in his films has to do with who they are as a person. It's not just performance-based.'
