Poor Things stars Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe reunite with Yorgos Lanthimos for the first look at Kinds of Kindness. A teaser for the triptych fable, previously titled AND, gave fans a first look at the film. The official synopsis reveals that the movie follows a man without a choice who tries to take control of his life, a policeman alarmed by his wife's return after being missing at sea, and a woman determined to find someone with a special ability destined to become a spiritual leader.
The 45-second teaser offers glimpses of the film's stars, including Margaret Qualley, Joe Alwyn, Hong Chau, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer, who are all previous collaborators with Lanthimos. The teaser keeps audiences guessing with scenes of a body being dragged away, Plemons being slapped by Qualley, Stone dancing in broad daylight, Chau licking an underwear-clad torso, and Alwyn screaming while embracing his own fist.
Stylistically, the teaser draws comparisons to Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction but retains Lanthimos' signature filmmaking touches, including black-and-white shots and a stunning underwater scene. Lanthimos described the film as a contemporary piece with three different stories, emphasizing that he prefers not to limit the audience's interpretation by revealing too much about the plot.
Kinds of Kindness follows Stone's Oscar win for her role in Poor Things, marking her fourth collaboration with Lanthimos. The film, set to release on June 21, was directed by Lanthimos from a script co-written with Efthimis Filippou, known for their work on The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer.
