Emma Raducanu 'leaving no stone unturned' in race against time to be fit for Wimbledon

Emma Raducanu has vowed that 'no stone will be left unturned' in her bid to be fit enough to play at Wimbledon this summer.

Raducanu burst onto the scene at last year's Wimbledon as a wildcard, reaching the last 16 before retiring during her match against Ajla Tomljanovic. She then followed that up by winning the U.S. Open, becoming the first ever qualifier to win a Grand Slam singles title.

However, she is now facing a race against time to be fit for this year's Wimbledon after she was forced to withdraw from the Nottingham Open earlier this month through injury. The 19-year-old suffered a side strain during her first-round match against Viktorija Golubic and has also been forced to withdraw from a WTA event in Birmingham next week.

She did offer a positive update on her condition earlier this week though, saying: "It was disappointing to go out this week with a side injury and unfortunately I will no longer be able to play in Birmingham. I'm looking forward to being back on the match court soon though to enjoy the rest of the grass season."

And Raducanu has now shared an image on Instagram of her using an oxygen chamber in a bid to aid her recovery before Wimbledon gets underway on June 27. She captioned the picture: "We're trying, no stone left unturned".

Raducanu described her latest setback as a "freak injury" and admitted she is unsure about her involvement at Wimbledon. "I have no idea [about Wimbledon]," she said on Tuesday.

"It could have just seized up and gone into spasm and then it is really bad for a few days. I think I pulled something, I am not really sure what exactly happened.

"I have just come off court, an absolute freak injury. I don't know what I could have done more about it. That is it.

"I need to get a scan first. I am not going to ' Google doctor' myself. I will get it checked out. Then we will see from there."
