Chelsea Women's boss Emma Hayes is set to take on a new managerial role that will see her face off against Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger.
Hayes, who clinched a Women's Super League and FA Cup double with the Blues last term, has won 15 major honours during her tenure at Kingsmeadow. And the 46-year-old will be in the Stamford Bridge dugout later this summer to take charge of a side packed with footballing legends and celebrity stars in the Game4Ukraine.
The match will see some of the biggest names in football and entertainment come together to raise money for the restoration of a school which was damaged by the war in Ukraine. The funds will help to make sure that children in Chernihiv Oblast once again have a safe environment to learn in.
Hayes' team will be captained by former Ukrainian international Andriy Shevchenko, with Chelsea legends Ricardo Carvalho, Michael Essien, Samuel Eto’o and Gianfranco Zola among the other names to have been confirmed so far.
"I couldn’t think of anyone better to lead out Team Shevchenko on 5 August," ex-Chelsea star Shevchenko said. "Emma needs no introduction. Her success speaks for itself."
In the opposite dug-out, Wenger - who won 17 trophies during his time at Arsenal - will be taking charge of Team Zinchenko, captained by current Gunners left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.
"I’m really excited to be sharing the sideline with Emma," Wenger said. "She has revolutionised the women’s game and her credentials are up there with some of the best coaches in world football."
The Game4Ukraine will take place at Stamford Bridge legends on Saturday August 5, with kick off at 6pm. To find out more, click here.
