Canadian rapper Pat Stay, 36, stabbed to death: Eminem and Drake lead the tributes

Musicians from around the world have paid tribute to Canadian rapper Pat Stay after he was tragically stabbed to death on Sunday morning.

Father-of-two Pat, 36, was rushed to hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, after police officers found him suffering with stab wounds at 12.35am. He later died from his injuries.

Halifax Police have launched a homicide investigation into his death. No arrests have yet been made.

Eminem and Drake led the stars from the rap industry paying tribute as they shared their heartache following the devastating news.

Calling Pat one of the 'best battlers of all time', Eminem wrote: "Hiphop lost one of the best battlers of all time … RIP.. KINGS NEVER DIE."

Drake shared a photo of Pat on Instagram alongside the words: "RIP to the Sucka Free Boss one of my fav rappers ever."

Singer Justina Valentine chimed: "RIP legendary battle rapper Pat Stay", while actor Jay Pharoah typed: "Heart Breaking news and a Major loss to culture and Battle Rap community..RIP Pat Stay ONE OF THE BEST TO EVER DO IT".

R.A. The Rugged Man said Pat was a "family man".

He wrote: "I just heard the shocking news about Pat Stay, Rest In Peace to a hilarious smart confident really great battle MC/monster also a very cool person and a family man. My condolences to his loved ones."

Pat's tragic death comes just days after he celebrated his son Calvin's fifth birthday.

He wrote: "I adore you, I admire you, you're a child yet I still look up to you. You are everything I could have ever dreamed of in a son x1000.

"I am constantly in disbelief with how lucky I am and how special you are. I shed happy tears thinking about it and our special bond, often."

Pat was a successful battle rapper, effortlessly freestyling and using wordplay to beat other opponents.

He eventually became a King Of Dot champion and shared his songs with fans on his social media page, with Drake praising his track The Great Diss.

Pat is survived by his two sons Calvin and Alaura.

Following his death, a Go Fund Me page was launched to raise money for the rapper's partner and children.

At the time of publication, $138,000 has been raised.
