Emily Ratajkowski reveals she bought her one-year-old son a baby doll to avoid gender stereotypes.
The model has spoken about how she is trying to avoid 'conditioning' her son into liking certain types of toys.
The 31-year-old said she bought her son Sylvester some new toys, in order to 'balance out' his strong interest in toy trucks.
She opened up about how she's finding life as a single mother, following her recent divorce from her son’s father, Sebastian Bear-McClard, in her newest episode of her podcast, High Low with EmRata.
On the episode, guest Julia Fox, who shares her one-year-old son Valentino with ex Peter Artemiev, said that she doesn’t want her child to 'end up like every single guy [she’s] ever met' and that she wants that 'conditioning to stop occurring'.
Emily responded by saying her son loved toy trucks but she is now trying to expand his interests beyond that.
She said: "He gets so excited, he loves to play with things with wheels. And I’m like, I’m not kidding, this morning I ordered him a baby doll and a tea set. Cause I’m like, 'we gotta balance this out.' But also, is this just what he likes, naturally?"
Julia went on to say that her son had a 'pink stroller' that he enjoys playing with while Emily said that Sylvester also has a 'pink convertible'.
Emily discussed whether giving her son toys, which are often made for girls, will lead them to avoiding gender stereotypes when if comes to how a man 'should behave'.
The star said: "I’m like, are those the little ways you can start making sure the conditioning doesn’t happen? And spending a lot of time around women."
Emily expressed her concerns about her son being pressured by his peers to act in a certain way.
She said it makes her 'sad thinking about somebody trying to toughen them up'.
Emily had her first baby Sylvester in March 2021 with Bear-McClard.
However, she officially filed for divorce from the producer in September, following reports that he allegedly cheated on her.
She has now said she feels 'anger' and 'sadness' over the breakdown of her marriage, but confirmed she is trying to move on and has been on some dates.
She revealed: "I feel all the emotions. I feel anger, sadness. I feel excitement. I feel joy. I feel levity. Every day is different.
"The only good thing I know is that I'm feeling all those things, which is nice because it makes me believe that I'll be okay," Emily said in an interview with Harper's Bazaar.
