Emily in Paris: the burning questions we need answered in Season 4

Emily in Paris is back on screens again, and haven’t we missed it.

The show, which follows the adventures of marketing executive Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), is a bona fide Netflix hit, pulling in millions of viewers for its third season. And for good reason: last year gave us drama, break-ups, love triangles and plenty of tears – as well as several burning questions that we’re anxious to see resolved in season four.

What would those be? With Emily and Gabriel on the rocks once more and Alfie seemingly having left Paris for good, we break them down.

Who will Emily choose?

Ooh la la. Season three ended with the mother of all cliffhangers: Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) being left at the altar by a pregnant Camille (Camille Razat), Alfie dumping Emily on the spot. Who will she ultimately end up going for: longterm love interest Alfie or on-again off-again Gabriel? And how will Emily react to the news of Camille’s pregnancy, since Gabriel is the father?

Season four’s trailer shows Emily trying to live her best life by seeing other guys, which means that the love triangle could soon become a love square. Specifically, there’s another man on the scene – Marcello, who is played by Eugenio Franceschini.

Given that part of S4 seems to have been shot in Rome, could they be jetting off to the Eternal City for a spot of romance? If so it would make the question of Emily’s love life an even more complicated one.

Will Alfie return?

The last we saw Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), he was storming out of Emily’s life after Camille and Gabriel’s disastrous almost-wedding. After all, he’s been in a relationship with Emily – only for Camille to declare that Emily has been in love with Gabriel the entire time. Clearly, he doesn’t want to be anybody’s “second choice”.

So his anger is understandable, but does that mean he won’t be making a return to Paris anytime soon? Well, he crops up in the trailer, but whether there’s a chance for him and Emily to repair their relationship – or for her to tell her side of the story – is unclear.

What does Benoit’s Eurovision performance mean for him and Mindy?

It’s not just Emily who’s stuck in a love triangle – Mindy (Ashley Park) is too. Though she and Benoit weren’t together for very long (they broke up at the beginning of season three), it looks like a potential new romance is back on the cards for the pair.

After Mindy falls out with her boyfriend (and all round bad guy Nicolas, the main antagonist of season three), Benoit appears at her front door to tell her he’s been selected to be France’s contender for Eurovision. Hooray! Not long after, Nicolas arrives and whisks Mindy away to Champagne in a private helicopter as a way of saying sorry – but the spark has been lit and it looks like Mindy is getting involved with Benoit’s Eurovision campaign.

Who was Julien emailing?

Poor Julien (Samuel Arnold) – he just can’t catch a break. Though he’s using Emily’s pitch decks to woo clients for Agence Grateau, when she comes back onto the team in season three she quickly starts interfering in his actual work. Not only does she meddle with his campaign for Ami Paris, she later overrides him in client meetings.

Julien is furious, and although Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) promises to rein Emily in, we see him sending a mysterious email off to what looks like a prospective employer. Will he stay – or will he leave for good?

Will Camille and Sofia get back together?

(COURTESY OF NETFLIX)

One of the more unusual subplots of season three saw the arrival of beautiful Greek artist Sofia, who strikes up a passionate relationship with Camille after they meet at an art gallery (despite Camille being with Gabriel at the time and Emily witnessing them kissing).

However, Camille eventually breaks things off with Sofia, leaving the other woman devastated. As we all know, Camille then almost goes onto marry Gabriel… but given the way things ended, could a reunion for the two women be back on the cards?

What happened between Louis and Sylvie?

When it comes to Sylvie, Emily in Paris has been serving up plot twist upon plot twist. In season two, we find out that she is married to fashion designer Laurent G (Arnaud Binard) – but that they have an open relationship. In season three, they try to make things work as an actual couple. Sylvie ditches Erik, the hot young photographer with whom she’s been sleeping, and all seems right with the world.

But there’s an extra plot twist on the horizon: Laurent wants to open a private member’s club in Paris. His investor is Louis de Leon (aka Nicolas’ father and fashion tycoon), with whom Sylvie has a complicated history.

How complicated? We’re not sure, but Sylvie alludes to it earlier in the season: when she started out as an assistant, something bad happened between them and it seems Nicolas is at fault. But what?
