Emily Atack show halted as actress lands new Disney+ role

The Emily Atack Show has been halted two years after it launched. The ITV2 has been paused while Emily focuses on a new role.

The former Inbetweeners star has landed a job in a new Disney+ drama, according to reports. She is set to feature in Rivals, which is an adaptation of Jilly Cooper's 1988 novel. Emily, 33, did impressions, sketches and stand-up on her ITV2, poking fun at herself and others, reports the Mirror.

A spokesperson for the former Celebrity Juice team captain said: "The Emily Atack show has been a great success so far, and Emily is discussing future opportunities about the series, but because Emily is flat out filming for her new Disney+ show she hasn't had a moment to sit down and write new material or commit to any filming dates. She's hoping she will have time to revisit The Emily Atack show in 2024."

Speaking to the MailOnline, a TV insider said: "The show means so much to Emily, but she felt it was the right time to move on, there are no plans to make another one. It takes a lot of work and dedication and other commitments this year meant it would be hard to give another series her all. She'll always be proud of it as not many female stars have been able to make their own stand-up comedy show."

Meanwhile, an ITV source added: "Whilst there are no plans for a new series in 2023, it was a great show and one that could appear on forthcoming schedules in the future."

Emily's latest role will see her star alongside David Tennant, Danny Dyer and Sex Education star, Bella Maclean. In a dramatic move to her previous characters, Emily will take on the role of Sarah Stratton, the wife of Deputy Prime Minster, Paul Stratton, who is played by Rufus Jones.

It's reported that her character will strip off and play tennis, completely naked, with her lover – just like it's depicted in the novel. The story is set in the made-up county of Rutshire basked in 1980s, with eight episodes documenting the rivalry between two men.
