Emilia Clarke, known for her roles in Game of Thrones and Last Christmas, has been announced as the lead in an upcoming Prime Video drama series called Criminal. The series is based on a graphic novel series created by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips.
Clarke will portray Mallory, a skilled and daring armed robber who is as quick with a gun as she is with her wits. Mallory is part of a heist crew alongside Ricky Lawless, played by Gus Halper, with whom she shares a passionate Bonnie-and-Clyde-like relationship.
Mallory's character is described as a woman living on the edge, operating on the wrong side of the law and harboring secrets that will put her and her crew in grave danger.
The cast of Criminal also includes Charlie Hunnam, Richard Jenkins, John Hawkes, Adria Arjona, Logan Browning, Kadeem Hardison, Pat Healy, Taylor Sele, Aliyah Camacho, Michael Mando, Marvin Jones III, Michael Xavier, and Dominic Burgess.
The show will be co-showrun by Ed Brubaker and Jordan Harper. Clarke, who received an Emmy nomination for her role in Game of Thrones, has also appeared in Marvel's Secret Invasion, Disney's Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Terminator: Genisys.
In 2022, Clarke made her debut on the West End stage in Anya Reiss' adaptation of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull.
