Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe matched Aaron Ramsey's long standing record with a well taken goal against Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Croydon-born attacking midfielder was brought in to replace the suspended Gabriel Martinelli for this latest London derby as the Gunners aimed to enact revenge on the Bees.
After a stalemate in the first half, the replacement for the Brazilian forward who has been heavily praised by Jurgen Klopp in the last weeks, made the right impact in what he did straight after half-time.
Alexandre Lacazette's long pass was collected well by the 21-year-old before he cut in and drilled a low effort pass David Raya in the visitors' goal.
A strike that came of some significance to the north Londoners - not only did it set them on their way to collect three valuable points in the top four race but it also meant that at his young age, Arsenal's number 10 has matched a long standing record held by former Gunners icon Aaron Ramsey.
According to William Hill, Emile Smith Rowe is the first Arsenal midfielder to score 10+ goals across all competitions in a single season since Aaron Ramsey in 2017/18.
This type of stat makes you wonder why the youngster has been in and out of the team in recent weeks when he contributes a goal return that some Premier League strikers won't achieve all this season.
The icing was put on the cake in the last 15 minutes as Bukayo Saka rounded off an important win for Mikel Arteta's men who now feel like top four is really in their reach after what has happened to Tottenham, West Ham and Manchester United in previous weeks.
Here's how a selection of Arsenal fans reacted to this impressive Smith Rowe record.
@TJLyricz tweeted: "Special player, Hale End strikes again!!"
@rizzio_x8 reacted to his overall play in the second half: "Smith Rowe bends his runs so so well, very Ramsey esque."
@alithorpe23 said: "PROTECT SAKA AND SMITH ROWE AT ALL COSTS."
@ArsenalN7 rounded off the reaction with the song that all fans love to hear: "I like it, I like it, I like it, here we go, Saka and Emile Smith Rowe."
