Emerson Palmieri deal to spark late West Ham transfer flurry with new Hans Vanaken bid planned

West Ham are finalising the signing of Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri in a £15million deal that is set to spark a flurry of late transfer activity at the London Stadium.

Emerson underwent the second part of his medical this morning and has agreed to join West Ham for an initial fee of £13m, plus £2m in add-ons.

The Hammers are also preparing to make an improved offer for Club Brugge captain Hans Vanaken after having an opening £8m offer for the midfielder rejected.

West Ham are optimistic of striking a deal for Vanaken as David Moyes targets new signings before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Moyes is pushing to strengthen his squad, with West Ham bottom of the Premier League with no points and no goals after three straight defeats.

Emerson, who was part of the Italy squad that won Euro 2020, has been told he can leave Chelsea after the arrival of Marc Cucurella nudged him further down the left-back pecking order.

Vanaken, a Belgium international, has made it clear that he wants to move to the London Stadium and West Ham hope to push through a deal this week.
