Emerging Hull tech hub partners with leading digital bootcamp provider to boost skills in the North

Hull’s emerging innovation and digital upskilling venture, The Edge Hub, has partnered with Makers, a leading provider of hybrid bootcamps and apprenticeships for the sector.

It will introduce a range of software development training and career opportunities to individuals and businesses from the city centre base, set to open this summer.

The past decade has seen Makers train thousands of technology leaders, working with an extensive range of national brands including Google and Deloitte Digital.

Opportunities to access a 16-week bootcamp in software development along with wraparound career support to fast-track the advancement of digital skills in the region will be offered.

The Edge hub founder Antonio Tombanane first formed a relationship with Makers at the 2021 edition of his Tech Week Humber initiative. He had worked with the organisation during the coronavirus pandemic and explored the power of technological advancement to support online learning and collaboration.

He said: “The partnership with Makers is fantastic news for The Edge Hub and the North. We are introducing a unique opportunity for businesses and individuals to access a new digital career in just 16 weeks. This fits perfectly with our ethos of fast-tracking filling the region's digital skills gaps”

Located in Kingston House on Myton Street, The Edge Hub will occupy almost 10,000 sq ft of space, and support business and individual growth

Claudia Harris, Makers' chief executive, said: “We are thrilled to join forces with The Edge Hub to build a unique community and space for Makers training in the Humber region and beyond.

“Over the past ten years, we have trained a diverse group of thousands of engineers, focusing on a growth mindset and emotional intelligence alongside excellent technical skills. Our partnership with The Edge Hub will create a powerful and intimate community of individuals and businesses working to unlock the full potential of the digital sector in the region.”
