Emergency services rushed to a North Tyneside beach following concern for the welfare of a woman.
Police attended Tynemouth Longsands in Tynemouth just before 9pm on Saturday night. They were assisted by Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade and Cullercoats RNLI.
The woman was located and brought to safety several hours later. She was supported away from the coastal environment and passed into the care of other services.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 9pm on Saturday (January 7) we received a report of concern for the welfare of a woman on the beach at Tynemouth. Emergency services attended and the woman was brought to safety several hours later."
Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade, said they were called to the scene at 8.47pm on Saturday night.
Secretary Peter Lilley said: "HM Coastguard tasked the Brigade and Cullercoats RNLI to assist Northumbria Police with an incident at Tynemouth Longsands.
"Brigade members were on scene within five minutes of the call and quickly located one casualty. The casualty was supported away from the coastal environment and passed into the care of other services."
He said nine members of the brigade attended the scene and all rescue units were stood down at around 9.15pm.
The Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade is a voluntary shore based coastal rescue service formed in 1864. They have so far responded to five call outs in 2023.
