Emergency services rushed to an incident in Edinburgh following reports of a casualty on the tracks at Wester Hailes Station.
It was confirmed by police that sadly one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Wester Hailes station at 1.31pm today (December 9) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, and sadly the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
ScotRail have announced that trains running between Haymarket and Glasgow Central will be disrupted following the accident.
The train operator explained on social media that passengers heading to Glasgow Central via Shotts should expect cancellations or delays as emergency service deal with the incident.
Stops between Edinburgh Haymarket and Curriehill, Wester Hailes, Kingsknowe and Slateford will not be served, commuters were warned.
On Twitter, Scotrail stated: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Haymarket and Livingston North. Services between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts will be cancelled or delayed. Curriehill, Wester Hailes, Kingsknowe and Slateford will not be served."
They have added that tickets will be accepted by Edinburgh Trams calling at Edinburgh Gateway (tram stop)- Edinburgh Park (tram stop)- Haymarket (tram stop) - St Andrews Square (Waverley).
Lothian buses will also accept train tickets on the following routes;
- 3 Edinburgh-Haymarket-Slateford-Kingsknowe
- 4 Edinburgh-Slateford
- 20 Staeford-Wester Hailes
- 30 Edinburgh-Haymarket-Slateford-Kingsknowe
- 33 Edinburgh-Wester Hailes
- 34 Edinburgh-Haymarket-Slateford
- 44 Edinburgh-Haymarket-Slateford-Kingsknowe
- 45 Edinburgh-Curriehill
