Emergency services have raced to a house fire in Fife this evening.
Fire crews scrambled to Johnston Park in Cowdenbeath after the alarm was raised at around 8.30pm on Wednesday. Harrowing footage taken from the scene showed flames ripping through the home.
Plumes of black smoke could be seen billowing up into the sky. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they quickly sent two appliances to the scene.
The extent of the damage is so far unclear as fire crews continue to battle the blaze. Worried locals took to social media to raise the alarm.
One person said: "There appears to be a house fire on Johnson Park in Cowdenbeath."
Another said: "It's a woman's house just along the road from me. Such a shame."
A third added: "What a shame so close to Christmas as well."
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted to reports of a house on fire on Johnston Park in Cowdenbeath at around 8.33pm on Wednesday, December 21.
"We sent two appliances to the scene and currently remain in attendance."
