Emergency services on scene as car ploughs into pharmacy

The car went into the pharmacy in Clarkston

A CAR has ploughed into a pharmacy near Glasgow.

Reports on social media told that a vehicle had driven into the Well pharmacy on Eaglesham Road in Clarkston, East Renfrewshire.

The incident occurred shortly before 4.30pm this afternoon.

Images were taken near the scene and show the vehicle has crashed into the shop front and shattered the glass window.

A fire engine and firefighters can be seen next to the car.

Police Scotland confirmed that they were in attendance.

A spokesperson said: "Around 4.25pm on Monday, August 22, police were called to a report of a road crash on Eaglesham Road, Clarkston where a car has struck a building.

"Officers are at the scene."

Later, officers issued an update that there were no injuries and that the driver was arranging for the car to be recovered.

The spokesperson added: "Officers attended and carried out enquiries.  No one was taken to hospital and recovery of the car was being arranged by the driver."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for comment.
